All-New 2010 Mazda3 Unveiled Before the LA Auto Show!

Mazda has officially taken the wraps off the all-new 2010 Mazda3 before its official unveiling at the LA Auto Show next month.

The all-new Mazda3 continues Mazda's current design theme that is also the basis for the new Mazda6 (Sustainable Zoom-Zoom).

Mazda hasn't released the final details except for the fact that the car will be powered by either a 2.3L or 2.5L four-cylinder engines when it is released sometime next year. Those engines seem kind of big for this class. Let's hope Mazda finally decides to bring the Mazda2 here to appeal to the fuel conscious folks.

You know how most first-gen RX-7s got blown up, wrecked, or otherwise hooned to death, with the scattered survivors slowly fading into beaterness? Not this one!

Now, yesterday we saw a 69% Booth Numbah Two recommendation on the $8,995 Chevette, and now we're looking at a car from the same era that's priced at six grand more… yet I suspect we're going to see a little more enthusiasm for the price tag on this pristine example of Wankel history. It's for sale by the original owner. It's a California car, and it was always garaged. The odometer hasn't even hit 2,500 miles yet! It's been bid up to nearly 10 grand by now, but anyone willing to fire a big $15,000 Buy It Now cruise missile right this minute can take it home ASAP. Is it worth it? You decide!

No Hybrid in the Works for the All-New Mazda6

The all-new 2009 Mazda6 will be in showrooms this month, but according to Mazda officials, there are no plans for a hybrid variant.

2006 L.A. Auto Show: Mazda Nagare Concept

Mazda says the Nagare — the word means “flow” in Japanese — Concept shows the future of Mazda’s design language. Translated from PR speak that means we might see some of the swooshes above the wheels or the grille treatment or who knows what from the Nagare on a future Mazda production vehicle. We’d buy that if the Nagare wasn’t so hard to decipher.

Perhaps the severe rearward slope of the windshield and cabin will be the flow we see in future models but otherwise we’re a bit dumbfounded. Plus that sharp, front beak doesn’t look like it would pass safety standards that look out for pedestrians these days. This could impale someone. More photos below.
